Routine is a resource

This series explores the therapeutic potential that natures’ cycle offers us and how we can bring it into our daily life to support our healing, create resources, increase our capacity and resiliency, and encourage reflection.

The reflections & themes in my work last month were harnessing the magic of routines. Routines can become a resource for us to take care of ourselves, to help life feel manageable, to regulate mood, to carve out consistency in building our self care toolbox. With repetition (a routine), acts of service to self become easier to reach to, to use and habitual. We don't have to spend time or energy (that we sometimes just dont have) trying to remember, instead it’s a Monday and we know Mondays are plant care day, a pilates class at 8am and a day we cook vegetarian. Perhaps Friday is a different routine, a morning read of a current book and a post work meal out with our friends or partners(s). We don't need to think about it, we just do it.

Other examples for you to try: a sleep routine, a morning routine, going for a walk 3 days a week, meditation for 10 minutes, closing your door & having 20 minutes just for you.

What is one routine you can focus on and develop or deepen to become a resource in your life?
